I use a straw every night so I bought a pack of the disposable straws and toss them. They are not that expensive but it's to remember to pick some up. My kids have all those cutesy decorative ones but they take so much effort to drink out of with all of the loops. Plus they are hard to wash. There is no way to get in there and make sure all the crud is out so they get nasty after a while.
Then I saw these Hummingbird Glass Straws I was very interested. They are not only super pretty but extremely practical if you ask me. When I got my package in my husband asked what I had. I told him glass straws and he said eww then you will have to clean them. To both of our surprise Hummingbird included the perfect brush to get them clean!
The straws are lightweight but appear very tough. Even still, I will probably always be nervous when handling them because i am a klutz. The straw is a little bigger than a normal straw that can be purchased at a store.
It's easy to drink out of. I really thought maybe it would be strange but no stranger than drinking from a glass itself so I really like these straws. The brush makes them super easy to clean with out having to worry about gunk getting stuck inside.
This set is not the only straws that HummingBird sells they have a really pretty purple and teal set that I liked a lot. Go check them out for yourself here They even have this adorable little fellow:

No, I have never tried glass straws, but would definitely like to! I like that they are reusable and they probably make your beverage taste better than it would with a plastic straw.
ReplyDeleteI have not, but it looks like a pretty and not wasteful alternative to plastic straws
ReplyDeleteI used to have a lovely set that I got for my 21st birthday. I loved them - perfect for cocktails etc. & they looked really classy (they had a 9 carat gold wire twirled around the outside of the straw). Even though they were made from toughened glass, eventually they all broke (especially when Mum decided to put them in the dishwasher!).
ReplyDeleteI have never used a glass straw before but it is something that definitely interests me! I think it would be good for the environment, and also my smoothies would taste great as sometimes plastic straws don't have a good taste...
ReplyDeleteI have never used a glass straw but I would really like to start. Everything tastes better when it comes from glass and I love the idea that these straws are easy to clean.

ReplyDeleteNo I have never tried a glass straw. I have wondered if your drinks would taste better.

ReplyDeleteI have never used glass straws before. I'd like to use them because I think reusing those plastic fast food straws is disgusting.
ReplyDeleteI think glass straws are the best. I would like to try one so that I can get the true taste of what I a drinking instead of a plastic taste. They reduce the amount of trash straws going to the landfill.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a glass straw, but it is such a great idea! Beats throwing away plastic ones, just to have them land up in a landfill somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet, but I love using straws. They help me to keep from smearing my lipstick from ear to ear.
